Thaneer Thanner 2.0

The notification from the Chennai Metro Water Board that they will deliver water needs within 2 days made my heart glad. Whether they deliver or not in 2 days is a big question but even if they do in seven days   and on a scheduled time basis will give Big Big relief to people like me and others in my society   and throughout the city who have gone bonkers trying to manage the water ordering , storage and supply and maintaining water availability schedules. This issue built up stress to many in the city. Ours is a very small flat – just five   and with two out of the five flats being let out , the onus is on the balance three to manage the booking and the affairs. One may say it is an easy task compared to other big assn where number of flats are more – I am not disputing that .. But everyone   is going through massive amount of time being spent – on   discussions , arguments etc etc. just to manage the water. Early in January of this year , we threesome ( who incidentally a

ICC Cricket World Cup 2019

After 48 matches and close to seven weeks , if it had to take “ Number of boundaries “ hit during a match to decide the winner , it cannot be  more trivial than this – Common ICC – even kids that play on the street with tennis balls have their rules well organized ! We can continue to debate as to whether the umpires were right in giving six runs to England , as Stokes played that “Bat of God” to guide the throw from Guptill to the boundary etc etc but the fact of the matter is that England are Champions and this only will come up in all your searches as to who the winner of the World Cup 2019 was and the rest can be “hot “ debate topics .It took England a good 40 years + to land their hands on this trophy and with support of their Immigration as well J India played really well and topped the group. At times , it looked to me that they were in trouble ( With Afghanistan , Bangla and even Australia when Alex Carey took the battle on , ( what a find for Australia ) )but the te

The Federer Magic -- But no trophy just a Plate ! Wimbledon 2019

If anyone gets so much attention in my blogs , it is this man. He just seems to defy age and logic – We wrote him off long back but he came back and won the Australian open in Jan 18 and that surprised many and then on he has remained in contention for a top place in each of the slams and other tournaments that he plays.. For a start in 2019 , Federer decided to play in the French open. Clay is not his favorite surface and with intent to protect his body and continue his active playing , Federer had been avoiding the Clay courts . This year having decided to play he did extremely well to get to the semis where he met his nemesis on clay Nadal who probably put him in to place in that match. Transition to grass court and  preparation was smooth . Federer won the Halle open and was ready for the Wimbledon. It was smooth sailing in to the semis and the familiar opponent was none other than  Nadal again . So one thought it was the end of the road at this tournament for Federer .

Then and Now- Train Journeys

I have been looking at social media and people have been posting pictures of ten years and then now – Very interesting outcomes indeed as we look back in to the past and then as of now. No—I am not posting any pictures of then and now but what I what I wanted to pen down was the train journeys of the past and now and how technology ( read mobile phones ) have come to play a big part in the journey that we have in the trains. Back then , before the mobiles came in , it was all about making friendship and chatting and hearing and listening and learning and we understood people more and more and also learnt to be inclusive . Sharing was a must including the food that we carried .. We made lot of “Rail Friends “ and I still have contact with a person from Wadi in Maharashtra – We travelled in the Mumbai Chennai express and both had no confirmed seats and became very good friends and connected at Mumbai where we both worked ( this was in 1990 ) Now , the journey of today is total

The Joy of Surgeries --The Continuing Work to help Children with CHD

N othing can give more joy than seeing children smile and play and enjoy their childhood .So, this week end ( Jan 12 th ),  few of us who  visited kids recovering post, their surgeries and also had interacted with them and with their parents – the time that we spent , was a joy behold. We continue these visits on a frequent basis , just to connect with the kids, their families and understand what better we can do. The Little Hearts Project spearheaded by Rotary and supported by Ford , continues to save lives of kids suffering from Congenital Heart Disease ( CHD ). Dr Prashant Shah and his team at the Soorya hospital continue their untiring efforts to save and give life back to these kids. Post the surgeries , the good news is that  the kids live a very normal life and enjoy their childhood , go to school and play . During this visit , we had the joy of interacting with four of the children and their parents – The first one Ms Senthamiz from Villipuram was in the ICU , jus
