BSNL Sports Quiz over the week end

As most of you are aware , i am avid follower of this live quiz , that is aired every Saturday at 10:10 PM on DD Podhigai -- I try to dial in and see if i can answer the questions on the grid and win a prize-- It has been tough luck in getting through the lines -- there are also live SMS contest and email questions that you need to answer over the week - Nothing was working for me in the last six to seven weeks -- This Saturday was a double bonanza - First , i got through the lines and then got a question that was easy to score off -- and then when they did random selection of five lucky winners for the email contest ( random sampling using excel ) my wife's email id was picked as the first of the five -- I was really lucky through the week end on the quiz show -- The only catch on the email is that we cannot participate for the next four weeks due to winning the prize this week!! Again , you need to watch the host Dr Sumanth Raman do the show with great speed , tact and his knowledge on sports - I do not miss out watching this at all.

With such a win on the quiz, switched on to watch ManU beat Everton 3 -0 and come back to winning ways -- they had lost their previous match to Chelsea by a odd goal that will be continued to be disputed by any ManU fan -- Chelsea are on top of the table after 13 out of the 38 matches for this season are complete and look to getting to winning the championship -- But the league still has many a game to play and for sure there will be twists and turns before it winds some in 1 Q 2010-

The Beach Walk and Unusual inspectors
A few liked minded of us try to do a extened walk on the Marina beach over the week end and it has been good time out to walk close to 7-8 kms and then have robust breakfast ( we have taken oath last week that we will avoid breakfast and implemented that this week - what a struggle it was to implement )

As we travelled towards the Iron Bridge , we noticed a procession coming towards us and we wanted to avoid the procession -- As we waited , the procession turned out to be a inspection party -- the inspection party's leaders were looking at the beautification program's implementation and giving suggestions to their staff who were running behind -- the inspection party had black cats armed , few officers from the Govt ., press and other supporters -- it was a good feeling to see that something that was being done by the government was being physically inspected and that showed ownership and accountablity for what was happening -- the modern light fittings , the granited pavement and other areas look much pretty and i think it may look better when the sun sets -- No prizes for guessing the lead team of this inspection party -

The inspection party was lead by Honble Dy CM and accompanied by the Mayor of Chennai !!

40 Years of Employment -- Gratitude Series 1

  I completed 40 years of being employed  continously recently - That was a long period of time and many others  like me would have crossed this milestone in their careers. I wanted to use this milestone to thank so many people who have helped, provided me with opportunities, supported me, trusted me and wholeheartedly wanted me to do well.  My first thanks of course goes to the Almighty for his abundant blessings. My first full time employment started in Aug 1984 enrolling myself as a Articled Assistant to pursue my Chartered Accountancy (CA). Before getting to this point, my whole career was shaped up by one of my mother’s cousins who I took as a role model  and got in to  Commerce Stream - V S Kumar or Kumar Anna to me was the guiding force for me to get into the commerce stream.
