The Long Week End , the rains and finally one full viewing of the Formula One Race this year

It was Diwali and a long week end-- It helped … Spending time with family , meet up and get blessings of elders and relatives , eat a lot , catch up with friends who do not stay in Chennai but make it a point to come down to their hometown for Diwali -- All in all a great way to recharge low charge batteries .. And prepare for more challenges ..Overall there was lot of happiness and being away from your regular pressures

The rains on Sunday nearly took the sheen off the long week end .. It was just not a good idea to stay indoors . I also realised how much we need sunshine .. Hot . Hotter is okay but not rains .
What the rains did help on Sunday was to get some afternoon nap that set me up to watch the Formula one ( the penultimate race of this season ) at Brazil and also watch some football of rival teams.

First the Formula One --
As indicated in my earlier blog , the races are no more interesting . They are drab , dull and have no excitement to offer . Steve Slater , Gary Anderson and our own Karun Chandok headed the Commentary trio for this race -- Poor Karun , he still has a racing careerin him before doing commentary! But I must admit , he gave lot of insights in to the Drivers , the track , team orders etc., -- Steve Slater has been doing Formuala onecommentary for a long long time and this year I am sure he is kind of bored of what happens in the race tack . Steve noweverdays tries his best to whip up excitement for even small things and sometimes unconnected. This is what boring races can do , even to a expert commentator ..

The race at Interlagos circuit held no thrills. Once Sebastian Vettel and Mark Weber ( Red Bull ) got away from the rest of the pack on Lap one , there was no chance for the rest . The race order did not get disturbed and the race finished with Vettel , Weber and Alonso on the podium. The only excitement that it offered was that the last race in Abu Dhabi will determine the champion. All of the three who finished on Podium and Hamilton (he has a mathematical chance ) of winning the championship..

I was really surprised at myself -- this was my first race viewing ( full race ) and that comes after 16 races have been completed this season .. For a F1 follower who will not stir out of his seat for every race and get in to discussions with family on moving things around when the race is on ... you can imagine how boring F1 has become !!

Football

What do you do when your favourite team has points to catch up with leaders -- hope that the leaders loose .....and that is what happened over the week end in the BPL .

While on Saturday , ManU puffed their way to a 2-1 over Wolves -- They slotted their winner in the extra time and gave ManU fans a relief ..

Sunday got better for ManU .. First Arsenal their closest rival on the points table were shocked by promoted side Newcastle. Arsenal played listlessly without burying the ball inside the back of the net and paid the price with a defeat.

Then came the bonanza -- Liverpool whose form , fortunes have dipped this season found their prime striker Torres come alive in their home match against Chelsea-- Torres scored twice and the second effort was magnificent and that gave Chelsea their second defeat of the season.

These results meant ManU are just two points behind Chelsea the leaders after 11 matches and that is good . Good not for just ManU but for the interest in the league itself. At one stage Chelsea looked like running away -- they were outplaying their opponents and looked very strong..
ManU is still the only side that is undefeated in the league. They have squandered winning positions to let goals through and draw matches that they should have won comfortably. But, But they are hanging in there.. Time will tell if they are good enough to win the title again.

It so happened that I did not miss any of the F1 action this year...last 3 - 4 races i don’t need to fight for the remote with my mother.. now she know when & where is the next race..

It was chandan who induced me to watch this as a sport ( not a stunt )while we shared accommodation in Italy for few days.
