The Kudi ( Drinks ) and Kadi ( snacks )

Men ( Young and old alike ) love the Kudi and Kadi on a daily basis.. Does not matter what time of the day it is for the Kudi… I see them having Kudi and Kadi most times at the numerous stalls that are on the road side near to their work place .These stalls come up there where there are people !! Sometimes, people have a smoke along with the Kudi and Kadi.

Kudi and Kadi are a great refresher to many to recharge their batteries and they get back to work or any other business with great energy.World affairs are discussed , marriages are confirmed , relationships are strengthened/improved and brainstorming on various difficult topics happens as people have the Kudi and Kadi. The crowd at the stalls pan across economic divides for the pricing is attractive ( of late , the inflation seems to have hit them as well and prices have been on the upward trend but it is difficult to manage without Kudi at any cost ) and this seems to a great thirst reliever to all mankind. Women are a hesitant lot in joining publicly but they are joining the race as well. I see them join their colleagues and non challantly have a sip of the Kudi and a bite of the Kadi . I see more of them coming out openly then they do today and business boom for the Kadi and Kudi shops !!

In Summer , the Kudi may be served with ice ( they are expensive than the ones that are served hot ) and quenches the parched throat. Kadi may not be a preferred option when the Kudi is served cold. However , when there is wet spell due to rains and during periods of nice weather , hot Kudi and hot Kadi combination is a must . Some people request for the Kudi to be served hot but have the " Kudi Master " work on it with his culinary skills to be had at a gulp ( to use local Lingo : "aaaathiy kudungo Master " is the shout and the Master loves to do this activity as he moves the Kudi from one glass to another and softens the heat out ).

The Kudi raw material often comes from hilly places -- Some states and cities are known for its Branding of it -- Assam , Darjeeling , Coorg and Coonur in India and it is internationally associated. Many big corporate are in the business of making raw material for the Kudi.

I enjoy a drink of Kudi on a daily basis . Sometimes , I add the Kadi to it .. A quiet walk from the work spot to the roadside Kudi stall freshens you and then you have the Kudi and Kadi. Kudi is served in 100 ML in small cups and sometimes people prefer to have it in glasses . They are worried about the environment and so use glasses but the people who use paper cups do not use the glasses because of hygiene factors related to cleaning the glasses. Kadis are served in pieces and people relish them and often have plates loads of them, Kudi and Kadis are prepared fresh and all the stalls on the roadside are brimming with crowd from 3 past in the evening ..

Last week , I went with a colleague ( what a nice guy he is ) to one of the Kudi and Kadi shops. He insisted he will pay. Who will refuse a free drink and snacks ?

He had his problems in paying. He called out what we ate and the guy at the Cash Till had a quizzing look on his face. He was unable to charge him for what we had. I intervened and had my colleague join the Kudi and Kadi club !!

We had a cup of Tea and Coffee ( Kudi ) and had a Bonda and Vada one of each for us ( Kadi ).
Well , when my colleague announced what we had , the billing could not be finalised.
I said , Two Kudi and Four kadis .. Pat came the answer -- that is 26 rupees Sir " My colleague paid promptly and was glad to be made a member of the Kudi and Kadi gang…He thanked me profusely for bailing him out a billing mess !! He was delighted to be part of the Kudi and Kadi Club .

Don't we enjoy our Kudi and Kadi daily

Wonderful rendition Sri. Kudi and Kadi -- worthy inclusion to Thesaurus. Is there a word to explain the art of extracting excess oil from veggie fritters by using a small piece of newspaper !! Babu PR
Quite funny! When I read the headline I thought you are going to write about the `Kudi` as I understand- the glas that cheers me on some evenings!
Enjoyed reading the piece!

Sri,
Nice write up and good suspense. I was thinking of something else..but climax was good. One area which made me to understand in a different tone is the use of ICE.
