The Whitewash – In India’s favour for a change

This was most unexpected. After the whitewash in Australia and England and followed by a home series loss to England , India was not expected to Romp home to 4 -0 nil verdict. While there are several things that the Indian team did very well – Spinning combination most effective , new batsmen clicking and scoring runs , spinning tracks working in the home team’s favour , dropping senior players and managing to win without them . All credit to the Indian team. As I said in an earlier blog, it was Dhoni who turned the series around with that knock in Chennai. What was not expected was the meek surrender by the Aussies.

1. The margin of loss – innings defeat at Hyderabad , Mohali match producing a result in spite of one day play being washed out and the final test in three days

2. Aussies seem to have lost their fighting instinct

3. Middle order looks so weak – retirement of Mr Cricket Hussey clearly showing the brittleness

4. Inability to handle spinners

5. Lack of quality in their spinners –

6. No plan in place to handle the spin—Except for Clarke no one had the confidence to play the spinners well

To me , it was a disappointment at the way the Aussies played . Just against their standards of how they have played the game for the last decade. Always fighting their way till the last ball is bowled.  No team could run over them . The contest would be intense. They did in the final test but I think it was too late. Aussies need a big regrouping if they have any hopes of giving the English a run in the forthcoming Ashes. May be they need to call back Ricky Ponting who was their highest run getter in the just concluded domestic season.

For India , it was the first ever series win with a 4-0 margin . And they have every reason to celebrate this success. The last 15 -18 months had been a mixed bag post the World Cup win and this turnaround was most needed. Pujara is becoming a good backfill for the Wall – and scores briskly as well. Vijay needs to continue his form and consistency. Dhawan should not stop with the one match wonder… Jaddu has become a great foil for Ashwin and Ashwin needs to keep bowling this way. The pacers ( Ishant and Bhuvanesh ) were not bad either. Overall great work by the team.

And they need to just stay focused and they may not find an opposition as meek as the Aussies were in this series.

Your are right, Sri. Considering the upcoming SA tour, having just couple of average medium pacers wouldn't help succeed there. Team needs to do lot of home work right from now on.

Today, I went to the beach with my children. I found a sea shell and gave it
to my 4 year old daughter and said "You can hear the ocean if you put this to your ear."
She put the shell to her ear and screamed. There was a hermit
crab inside and it pinched her ear. She never wants to go back!
LoL I know this is entirely off topic but I had
to tell someone!

I have been browsing online more than three hours today, yet I never found
any interesting article like yours. It's pretty worth enough for me. Personally, if all site owners and bloggers made good content as you did, the web will be a lot more useful than ever before.
