Ashes - Second Test - Nothing Changes - Victory to England

“ Let us dream BIG. We win 5- 0 , I take 50 wickets. I get knighted and five years down the lane, I become PM—This was said by Graeme Swann ,the English Off spinner before start of the Ashes test series.

Looks like this is going to be true the way the Aussie’s crumbled in the second test. England did not make big runs to put pressure on the Aussies. After being reduced to 3 for 28 , England recovered through Trott, Bell and Bairstow and could have ended up scoring less than 300 but the Aussies allowed them to get to 361. The Aussie reply was disastrous. One could call it “Spineless” batting. Second day of the match England was batting again ( they were all out in the first session, Aussies got out in the next two sessions and there was time for England to bat second time the same day ) !. Aussies crumbled to 128 and England wanted to out bat the Aussies out of the test which was the right thing to do and did not enforce the follow on. England was largely helped by their rising star Joe Root who can do nothing wrong. Root applied himself and England set up a total that Aussie can never dream of getting in the fourth innings of a wearing pitch that not only Swann can bowl on and claim wickets but part time spinner Joe Root could do so as well. Aussies showed no character for which they are known and as in the first test , the second one did not get to the Fifth day. Personally very disappointed with the way the Aussies gave up, without any fight. England is just one win away from retaining the Ashes and that looks to be the most happening result.

Aussies have a mountain to climb if they have to make fight out of the balance three tests. Batting has to raise the bar several notches if they are to succeed. Their bowling has been good if not extraordinary. It is the batting .. their depth looks very shallow and as it happened in India , the teams are able to run through them which would not have been possible couple of years ago. Re building is the right word that Lehman and Clarke should be planning !

I have no hope for the Aussies.
Swann is going to be Knighted !

I thought Australia deserved to win the 1st test especially after the Broad episode and given that they are the underdogs for a change. But the way the second test went there looks to be only one likely result which is 5-0 England provided weather gods dont intervene. India's record of 4-0 against Australia could be shortlived. Australia could do well to reverse their batting order
