Random Rumblings

I went through two incidents on Diwali Day when most things just gets shut down – Interesting experience –  On a normal day ,  things that could get fixed so easily with no effort,  can turn in to a frustrating experience on a day when the whole town celebrates..

Incident 1 :

First over lunch , my daughter had the wires of her braces come off half way—She was uncomfortable –The dental clinic that she goes normally is a 5 minute drive—We went there and it was shut down totally… The problem was not urgent but had to be fixed – I just kept driving along the roads looking for all Dental clinics and whatever we could find,  were closed. I tried the mobile phone to look up at more dental clinics in and around and it is at this point , the connection will not work .  With no luck in finding Dental Clinics , went to the closest Hospital that did Day Surgeries at this place. That was deserted as well . We are asked to go to Emergency , where the duty doctor indicated that he cannot pull the wire out. Back to the roads and to the next hospital .. Again Emergency – But at this hospital , the Duty Doctor said she will cut the wire , so that the portion that was jutting out will not hurt . Agreed to it . But as the Doctor cut the wire, the entire thing came off. This was what we wanted !
I hoped to get out quickly of the hospital but the payment process was laborious with ID card creation etc. . They could not accept payment without ID being created. Common , i want to pay and leave and enjoy the festivity

Incident 2
You may ask , did this happen on the same day ? It did –

We are out in the afternoon and then noticed our rear left tyre had a puncture . Got the jack out , the nuts off the wheel but the wheel would not come off the hinges ! Disaster on the road. Whatever tugging that, we did, the wheel held on to the base. Had no option but to put the nuts back , get to the nearest Fuel station , put some air and drive on till we found a shop that could repair. To our disappointment , for the next 6-8 Kms not a single shop was open . Meanwhile we found the tyre pressure reducing . Finally , found not one , but  two shops just next to each other,  open that could fix the puncture. And they got the wheels of the hinge by using the hammer ( realized , we need to carry the hammer,  if we have to change wheels ! ) . It was kind of touch and go, else we just to leave the car where it was and find alternate transport

While driving close to our residence , we noticed a Dental clinic/ that was next to where we go regularly  was open with lights and in full functionality.  And that indicated , how things went ! If the phone had worked , may it would have come up in the search , but as they say – ifs and buts do not help… Just had to go through the long grind.
So , if things are closed , the easiest of things can become the most difficult of things to manage !
