Quotable Quotes

All chief editors were behaving like the Chief election commissioners -- Dayanidhi Maran on exit polls conducted by the media

I will never date a cricketer -- Preity Zinta Actor and Co owner of Kings X1 Punjab IPL team --

There is a real national mood change on the part of Pakistan People. We are obviously encouraged -- Hillary Clinton US Secretary of state

From 1947 to 1989 we were strategic partners all over the world. What did we get in return ? We were abandoned - Pervez Musharaff Former President on relationships with the US

Formula one

Ferrari scored their first podium finish of this season as Kimi Raikonen finished third in the street race of Monaco circuit -- Kimi should have finished higher if not for a poor tyre change at the Pits by the Ferrari team -- Massa finished fourth and so one can now feel that the Ferrari's are getting their feet on to the circuits after a disastrous Asia circuit tour--
Brawn continued their amazing run as their cars of Jenson Button and Barrichelo finished one two in that order -- Button is now on 51 points after six races ( out of a total of 60 points available for the winner at 10 points a race )and looks like the Brawn team will run away with the 2009 championship for both the driver standing and the team constructor championship-- They have to do very badly in the next ten to twelve races not to finish on top. This team has a been a dream after not finishing any races in 2007/2008 noteworthy !!

IPL-- the amazing tournament and its success

The recently concluded IPL at South Africa was a grand success -- When Lalit Modi the Chairman of the IPL organising committee was pushed to a corner by the Government , he took the bold decision to take the tournament out of India -- the government refused to support the dates as they clashed with the Indian election dates--Modi showed why he is success by taking the challenge and having the tournament at a foreign destination .. He did not have luxurious time at his disposal to do this.. , He just had two weeks to lay down the schedule and make it happen .. And " make it happen " he did with this team -- Hats off to Modi ( Modi's ( pun intended ) seem to have the knack of making things happen !! ) -- Just think about this .. A Indian tournament being held at a Foreign country !! And that is big thing according to me .. Modi has built a reputation for all of us ..
The tournament kicked off April 18th and wound up on May 24th ( 59 matches ) with the South African President on stage , thanking Modi for brining IPL to South Africa and through it ,making the economy ( tourism ) boom and also giving South Africa a chance to showcase their infrastructure-- The South African President made the remark that this was pre prep to the world Cup football event that South Africa hosts in 2011 -- what a missed opportunity for India ?
Modi was decisive -- once it was clear that the event would not be supported by Indian Government , he moved on -- Venue was decided as South Africa , schedules were laid out -- I can imagine the team 's travel , getting visas ( we struggle with this one as corporate for one or two people and here they were being handled for teams that were probably thirty ,forty people including support staff and players ), handling payments and so on.. Nothing seemed to have been missed -- everything went to plan as it did in the inaugural tournament in 2008.. One match was rained off , the rest of it gave entertainment that it was supposed to -- There was enough crowds at the stadium including on week days -- Over 11 Million watched the final match on TV..
A very fitting success case for examination by students doing their projects for their Masters course and soon enough you will this success case study come out in one of the top business universities of the world ( A Harvard, Stanford for sure )
I am not going to write on the cricket and scores,,, enough has been the media attention on Cricket , players , Bollywood stars , music and so on..
Lalit Modi deserves all the success that this tournament is about
