The Medical Camp -- Success

The medical camp at our Rotary Medical center on 26th July was a grand success -- Success because we managed to get in around 75 ++ people at the venue to have them screened free of cost for Diabetics and Ultrasound and if needed for X rays and ECG-- We have never seen that many people at the center except for the Inauguration function where it was our own crowd that came in !! --

Couple of reasons for the event being a success :

1. We wanted to make it a success and nothing else other than this attitude will create success mind set.
2 We were helped by Volunteers from Ford Warranty team who over the past week end , distributed Flyers of the event to areas around the medical center -- they were outstanding and went beyond expectations -- the flyers were on Share Autos , Metropolitan buses route buses that plied in the area , Housing board flats in the area-this contributed a great deal to the people coming for the event.

One flawed effort was on marketing of the event :-- we only advertised the camp and not the center in these flyers -- So we need to re do flyers and then have the center figure prominently with timings of its operations and the rate card

But i think the ball has been set rolling and from here on , we will make only progress --

Racing -Formula one/ Moto GP

The Hungarian GP will be remembered for long -- Not for the race but for incidents that were bizarre and that seems to have put out of contention from competitive racing one of the good drivers in the formula one racing circuit - In the second session of qualifying on Saturday Felipe Massa of Ferrari had complete his qualifying lap around and was cruising in when a part of the suspension from a car in front of him took off , slammed his helmet so hard , that he lost consciousness that forced him to drive the car at full speed in to the tyre barriers -- Massa suffered fractures in his skull , was operated upon and now is in induced coma and seems to have lost vision in his left eye and may not race again-- What a tragedy.. Latest update is that Massa is recovering well and Ferrari hopes to see him behind the steering wheel-
Rumours are afloat that Schmi will take place of Massa till Massa is fit -- Not sure but is a interesting option and will excite many a Schumacher fan-

The qualifying session continued and we had Alonso of Renault on pole and that was a surprise to me -- It was also clear that he was carrying very little fuel that helped him to set a fast timing for the qualifying -- In the main race , Alonso lead from the start but pitted in early -- and my fears were correct -- he was on lower fuel load and hence need to get in early-- and as the tyres were changed and refuelling completed and Alonso got out of the pits , it was clear that his front right wheel was not screwed in properly -- We saw the tyre get out and go around threateningly but no one was in its way -- Alonso retired and that set up Lewis Hamilton to win the race-- Hamilton who had been in hibernation for all the races of this season , came alive and started what he did last year -- Muscle his way past other cars , drive aggressively over the kerbs and it looked like Hamilton that we knew- Another driver who has had a quiet year , last year runner up Kimi Raikenen also found his bearings and finished second -- Brawn GP for the second time this year struggled and finished out of points -- With its poor performance , it has opened doors for the Red Bull team drivers of Weber and Vettel -- Weber stands a very good chance of getting to the top for he has shown

The Moto GP at the British Open was a another classic bike duel -- Rossi and Lorenzo were right up there and Tony Elias took the lead only to skid off and crash - Lorenzo followed him and Rossi was all set to win -- But Rossi skidded as well -- but he did what others could not -- he got up and then chased his bike , pulled it up and then managed to re join the race and finish fifth -- It was amazing that Rossi managed to do this -- Lorenzo and Elias failed to pick themselves up after crashing -- This is what makes Rossi different and the world champion he is -- He has his luck as well as the bike fell on the same side he was crashing -- You must watch the race to see what happens when riders crash -- they loose it when they are at speeds over 150 KM / hr and it may look horrific but with safety wear they are not normally hurt , but the crashes themselves to watch will take one's breath away.

It was bizzare indeed, while I feel sorrow for F Massa I am delighted to see the rumours on Shumi's return is confirmed by Ferrari today...
Very much awaiting 23 Aug to see his action in Spain.
