The Onions impact
Over the week end , I went to a Veggie food chain of restaurants for a evening snack . I like Sambar Vadai and Onion Rava Dosa. Both orders were taken . The surprise came in the delivery of the first item and in refusing delivery of the second item. The Sambar vadai came minus the nice sprinkling of grated onion dressed up on the Vadai . As the first item was delivered , the non availability of any food item where Onion had a major content was expressed. I realised with the spiralling prices, hoteliers have taken a easy route. Just avoid serving them . I can understand , with the prices fluctuating , they may not be able to price their stuff as well .. So much for what Onions can do !!
The Onion jokes had a field day at the Humour club first meeting of the year as well.
Some changes in the way the Humour club is functioning.. There were lot of decorations at the entrance , stage, backdrop etc., to make it colourful... and to the audience , a new lucky dip ( three prizes every meeting ) , more gifts ( laddu from Krishna Sweets ) and so on /.. Wondering ….. Looks like the club is doing things to keep the attendance and retain membership.. Who says attrition and engagement applies to Corporate only ?
The Lee Hesh reunion
I was disappointed when Leander and Mahesh broke up their combination and went off to seek out glory with their own choice of partners. Although ,over the years both did well with different pairings winning titles including Grand Slams, I thought they lost the chance to do more and be a strong , dominant team in doubles. If you look at the history , teams staying together have been very successful-- Example are the Bryan Brothers , Mark Woodforde and Todd Woodbridge ( called "Woodies ") , John McEnroe /Peter Fleming etc.,
Hesh and Lee have paired together again for the 2011 season and that is great. The drawback to their progress could l be their age. However, both of them play the game with so much passion and intensity and fervour that the age factor may not hold up their path.
Winning the Chennai ATP open was a good start to the year and after the final point, Leander ran up to Mahesh, who lifted him as any parent would do to their kid. And that picture was a great sight to see two legends of Tennis joining back to live a tale to tell. It is not the game , the technical finesse or the strategy , it is the Chemistry of playing together that has won many matches for this wonderful pair and I saw that in that final point and the subsequent closeness. Good times for the Indian tennis duo.
The EPL 2011 so far
ManU are on top of the table at the halfway mark and in a very comfortable position. ManU remains the only unbeaten team in the league. Their display on the field have not been extraordinary but good enough to get them to the top of the table. And they had great support from their rival clubs. Chelsea who started their defence of the title in a great manner have lost their inertia energy and have been losing easy matches including a home defeat to relegation threatened Wolves. I could not believe that Chelsea will loose their momentum like this. Ancelloti their Coach still survives as their Coach but I am sure for not long if the results do not turn around. The price for non performance is very high in this game and we had Liverpool coach sacked last week for non performance .. Decisions are quick and new coach comes in and the team and the games go on. In this context, Sir Alex Ferguson, has been the Manager of the ManU team from 1986.With 24 years as manager of Manchester United, he is the longest serving manager in their history after overtaking Sir Matt Busby's record on 19 December 2010. His tenure is also the longest of all the managers. And that is awesome considering the pressures of non performance of the team , you handle !!

The message from some of the franchise are very loud and clear that they want to promote the young talents...Rajasthan team has only picked 8 players (including 6 overseas players) and looks like Share warne will go to all the villages in Rajasthan to get the uncapped young talents which is a real good news...
