Seers advise mortals to seek God for freedom from misery. For a change , devotees prayers for the release of their gods- idols of Vishnu and Lakshmi. Balaji Sampath :

I have to mention about this IITian and a Phd from one of the US universities-- balaji closed shop in the US and returned to India to help out with education. He belongs to the AIDS India a NGO formed by Indians out of the US. Balaji gave up a lucrative job in the US , returned to India and immersed himself in getting the right tools to the schools. AIDS India did a survey in few districts in TN and found that children in standards 4 to 6 , only 35 % could read ( this is in Govt schools ) and went about producing leaflets and other material to be given to children that will give the habit to read. Children of city schools get to read comics , watch CD's and also other media where their knowledge and awareness increases.. They made the kit and covered 7000 school in three districts and the survey showed that the percentage went up from 35 % to well past 70 %- All this took three years of full time-- today there is lot of awareness of Balaji, AIDS India and tamilnadu Science Forum.. My club supports these orgn., in a very small way.Two weeks back, Our Club recognising Balaji's dedication to the society conferred him with a " Distinguished Service Award ".Balaji while accepting the award informed that the Govt of Tamilnadu has taken notice of his work and a announcement was made by the CM in the Budget speech, that the TN govt will adapt the toolkit that has been developed . The tool kit is a typical " Montessori " material which helps the students on their own to progress.
It is indeed a great sacrifice by Balaji to give up his job and do what he is doing today.
