Kalam on how he learnt leadership-

Kalam was the program director for one of the missile launches and Dhawan was the ISRO director-- When the launch failed , Dhawan told Kalam that he will face the press and address them -- he did not allow Dr Kalam to be in front-- he took the responsibility for the failure and this launch was personally attended by the then PM and host of dignitaries-- Dhawan faced the barrage-
Couple of years later , the launch was a success- Dhawan told kalam --go tell the press and the nation and bask in the glory of success
Message - leaders take responsibility for failures. Take the front stage when there is a failure and allow their people to celebrate success and stay in the background

Dear Sri -- Kalam's Leadership message was very interesting. I have learnt about another facet in leadership -- Servant Leadership. Here the Leader acts like a servant to facilitate resource mobilization and shepherds his team to success (behind the scene).
Thanks Babu PR.
