CHES ( community health education Society ) and Ananda Deepwali
This year , it was a decision to support a small but needed group -- the choice was inmates from CHES institution-- Infants and children affected by HIV who have been disowned by their own parents-- Balamurugan who works in the NA payable area agreed to champion the cause-- Rotary Club of South which I represent chipped in with the funds and other close friends also supported -- Bala took meticulous care -- Measured the children for the size of their dress , took their choice of colour and got them exactly what they wanted -- A total of 45 inmates including 9 infants were given new dresses-- Each of them got a chocolate box too- We also served them breakfast and lunch ( it was joy to serve the kids and also few people fed them as they would feed their child ) the children enjoyed the visitors and easily mixed with them-- Some of them were so smart and we had tears for them for their condition of health -- none of them know of their disease that they are living with -- They know that they are orphans--
We had a music troupe that played popular numbers-- Shanta Ram from our recons group brought the troupe and sang some pleasing numbers --
Hari of Plant Engg did his mimicry and got the kids going-- there was a friend of one of the employees who danced to a popular number from the film Sangamam-- All in all we all wanted to make the kids happy-- and I think we succeeded a great deal-- this was because we were involved in the event and each one who came participated in one way or the other-
Dr manoram who runs this Ngo spent time with us explaining what the NGO does and what support they need-- they have made great progress- Two of the inmates will be writing their school living exams-- one of them Murugan is a state rank prospect--
A great day and time well spent in motivating and bring cheer to a small group
