Enthiran ( The Robot )-- The Rajini Show
Finally , after four weeks post release of the movie , I got to see the movie and I am sorry to all Rajini fans, that the movie was disappointing to me . May be my expectation was sky high based on all the hype created and all the great feedback that I got . My disappointment was not with Rajini but with the director Shankar who had done better movies than this in terms of storyline-
I looked back and thought about his earlier movies Gentleman , Anniyan , Mudalvan etc., -- May be it was the Rajini effect that killed everything that was to be prominent around the movie. There was not a scene where Rajini was missing . And that probably give a overdose of "Rajini" to me not to the Rajini fans .
Somehow , I was not excited through the viewing of the movie and it was just good to me for one viewing and will go down as a average movie that I did not enjoy much.. I know I will be proved otherwise , by the box office collections , the theatres still running to capacity and lot of people who say they have seen it at least five times or more if not once . To the kids , it must have met their expectations -- it was one of those magic type just as in Cartoons or the Jetix channel !!

I watched the movie at PVR multiplex in Ampa Mall and I have to tell people that we are watching movies in this multiplex with a huge safety risk. There are four theatres that have entrances through a narrow passage and people queue up on the narrow passage to gain entry to the four theatres. Exits to the lifts and the staircase are again through narrow corridors . The theatres are on the fourth floor and if something untoward happens, chances of escapes through these narrow corridors are limited -- Wonder how the Fire and Safety certificates were obtained. We will wait for a disaster to happen and I am sure corrective action will happen then !!
The Rooney Ploy for better wages ? !!
Rooney the star ManU forward was up on his elements through last week . The striker who has been off form since March of this year and did nothing for England in the football World cup campgain , had been in a storm for the last couple of weeks with usual rumours on his personal life ( now I say usual because as you climb to stardom , these are things that you are expected to create and manage ).
Sir Alex the no nonsense Scottish ManU manager dropped him and then played him as a substitute in the previous week end matches. Rooney decided enough was enough. He declared over the media that he was leaving ManU -- and then the drama unfolded -- It was believed he will join arch rivals ManCity -- no he was going to Chelsea - no no he was on his way to Real Madrid to join Ronaldo his old clubmate . ManU fans protested at Rooney's residence ( who says these type of things happen only in India or Pakistan ? )
Towards end of the week , Rooney praised Sir Alex as a genius !! And that seemed to pave way for some change .. What happened on Friday was dramatic. Rooney did a turn around and signed a new deal for staying at ManU for another five years . His pay packet which was around 90,000 Pounds a week jumped to around a range of 150000 - 250000 Pounds a week. Was that not smart .?
It was smart for both Rooney and the ManU team . ManU needed Rooney as well . Sir Alex had his way as well . Rooney had to apologise to the Club and his team mates before the new contract was signed. The Club was bigger than the player as well and Rooney saw that as well ..
A big role was played by Paul Stretford, ( Skilful negotiation !! ) Rooney's agent who handled the issue behind all the front end over the media by Rooney and ManU.. Stretford is expected to make Millions out of this deal as well .. It remains to be seen as to how other players react to this .. Biggies like Rio Ferdinand and Berbatov must be calling their agents for a plan of action -- Interesting times ahead… Any one wants to try this trick -- need a good agent !!
