Anadha Deepwali Celebrations by Udhavum Ullanagal
Again , this year, the orgn., arranged for Deepawali celebrations for the children of various orphanage homes-- Around 1500 children benefitted-- they all were brought to the Kalyana Mandapam , given new clothes , made to wear them and were given great breakfast, lunch and packed dinner ! There was variety entertainement through the day-- Around 60 of us from the FBSC were volunteers to the function-- There was a class act by the cook -- RMV catererers-- Every year they make the food free of cost ( around 1.2 lakhs ) -- this year the owner of the firm passed away -- yet his wife came up on her own and told the organisers " nothing has changed and we will do it free, else my husband 's athma will not go to heaven "-- This was when the organisers were wondering what to do and where to go -- fanatastic contribution to mankind- the hall was also free-- So all in all a worthy event to attend on a Sunday.
Rotary Fellowship- Saturday 14th October
It was our monthly fellowship (read Sip ) meeting but due to the elections it was a fellowship meeting only with wives and kids- The theme was "marriage "-- earlier well before the event , we were asked to give one snap of our wedding photos and also asked to come in our wedding dress !-- the pictures were scanned and made in to a beautiful pictures and a song was tagged to each couple's photo-- It was very nice to see our photos and the compere had the right songs too- Most of us went in our Silk Dhoti and shirt-- One guy really went down the memory lane-- he was in his traditional 9 inch dhoti and so was his wife in her 9 yeard saree-- Ashes smeared on his forehead, the couple exchanged garlands and brought the room down ! It was good fun without the sip
