Polio Plus on Jan 7th
The Rotaries play a important role in the vaccincation and eradication of polio-- Although ,much has been done in this regard , polio cases continue to be reported in North india and thus the need to push ahead for vaccination on mass scale-- Our club had three health centres alloted to support in arranging communication ( we hire autos with PA equipment and audio cassettes and go nook and corner to the slums to communicate ) , banners , caps , Volunteers, Food for the volunteers and the vaccine ( pre work and planning happens one day before )-- One of the health centres was Thousand lights to which there are smaller outposts ( 15 attached ) Thousand Lights is a high profile area being MK Stalin's constituency and the CM wanting to start the process -- The Health Centre identified 30 kids to go to the CM;s house for Immunisation-- More than the small kids, the mothers were all dressed to kill to see the CM !! The time to take them to the CM's residence was 8 AM, so all the mothers and kids were told to Assemble at 6;45 Am at the centre-- The CM's office indicated only 10 kids were needed and wanted a diversity at around 75 % -- the timing got changed to 9:30 AM-- After a mini scrammble , 10 families were identified and went to the CMs residence-- They came back at 10:30 AM-- The rest were assured that the Mayor would come and admisiter the polio drops-
The Mayor was getting delayed and all the kids were uneasy at 11 AM-- Then the parents decided enough was enough-- The bases were adminstered polio by the Die hard Rotarians like me and left -- The program then went peacefully -- Othe centres at Chetper and Conran Smith Nagar ( Perambur Barracks Road ) went off well and we had lot of people coming to the centres to get the drops for their kids-- We were happy with the support we got from School children and others attached to the corpn school in the respective areas-- It the is the Page 3 show that spoils the real thing

An apple a day ….
The children were lined up in the cafeteria of a Catholic elementary school for lunch. At the head of the table was a large pile of apples.
The nun made a note, and posted on the apple tray: "Take only ONE. God is watching."
Moving further along the lunch line, at the other end of the table was a large pile of chocolate chip cookies.
A child had written a note, "Take all you want. God is watching the apples."

Teacher: It is physically impossible for a whale to swallow a human. It’s a a very large mammal but its throat is very small.
