Conmen love playing the role of a policeman , with whom they interact the most. Loorthanathan from Bangalore is no different. He specialises in duplicating the gullible wearing policemen uniform. When he was arrested recently, the licence plate of his bike had the letter " G 2 which suggest that it belongs to the government. Loorthanathan who the police claims cheated over 70 people, even had a helmet similar to the one used by the police

Getting close to sparring canines can be dangerous. Even the elephants know the rule. Recently in Madurai , an 11 year old elephant ran away seeing two dogs fighting and barged in to a hotel nearby. No amount of persuasion from the mahout worked as the scarred elephant refused to come out.. It did eventually after the fear subsided

It was the annual fund raising event of my club Rotary club of Madras South-- the funds were to be used for buying lab equipment for a medical center that will subsidise costs as high as 70 %-- the equipment to be purchased were Ultrasound machine , ECG machine-- We had hired the Rani Meyammai hall at Egmore for two days and brought in various vendors to put up stalls at the event-- A leading mobile manufacturing company was the major sponsor- We had stalls from various streams and had a food court lined up with names as Pizza hut and Coffee day in place , In addition we had a dancing competition for the schools ( with prize money ) and a music competition as well. ( for college bands and with prize money ). Everything was set except that we did not get the crowd in-- We missed out the other events in town -- A electronic exhibition at the Trade Center , a similar exhibition at Le Meriden , the Chennai Sangamam festival that was drawing crowds.. With this performance background , we hope that the sponsors will be kind enough to pay up the money. Else we need a back up plan to fund this - It was disappointing after all the effort to get this going --

The annual thiruvizha naama theru Vizha kicked off in various parks this week Feb 10th to 17th ( See my blog of feb 26th 2007 )-- It is a very good theme to arrange these music , drama & folklore at the park in the mornings and evenings-- and it gives a added energy to the walkers at the park to hear music vibrate through the walking path-- Added flavour to the events that brings in those arts that we never see was the fact that the common man can have his entertainment free of cost and also the availability of food at the event area --We chefs from various top rated hotels produce the Virdhunagar barota , manaparai muruku, the Madurai Gigarthanda etc .,
Try to visit one of the parks and enjoy the programs and the food
