THE EPL status and excitement of next matches
Man U was leading the table at the end of last week by ten points -- that is a significant lead to hold -- This week they were pitted against Liverpool who are threatening this year to be contenders for the title with Chelsea -- In their home match Liverpool beat Manu 2 -1 ( Sep 08 )and in the return match ( home match for ManU ) , one expected ManU to beat them back and consolidate their position at the top - Not to be -- Liverpool played tough aggressive , pushy football to outclass ManU by 4-1 -- that is a great score line for a football match -- This just throws open the league -- ManU still lead by four points and a game in hand -- there are nine more games to go and the finish is going to be exciting -- A ManU fan , I was thoroughly disappointed with the result but the comfort is the points table and ManU still leads.Chelsea are also on the same points as Liverpool but hold a goal scored advantage over Liverpool --
During the week all the English clubs progressed in to the Quarterfinals of the European Championship ( Manu U , Chelsea , Liverpool and Arsenal ) -- So lot of good news for the EPL clubs--
Humour Club
This months meeting had something to cheer other than the Humour -- Sometimes , it is amazing and a great inspiration to see people latch on to things and make success -- this is what exactly happened-- Around eight months ago , a member climbed up to the stage and made a request -- rather she shared what she was doing -- This lady , has started devotional hymns , Bhajans , slokas for the down trodden in her area ( basically the target audience was the children of household help in her area ) and she was able to bring these children on to the stage for a five minute recital and all in the audience was able to see what she could achieve with the children--
In this meeting there were two replication of this practice -- A young entreprenrial lady , started Bharthanatyam for children who cannot afford the cost and was able to make them do a small dance recital on stage ( no cost to the kids and this lady is a performing artiste and is a busy woman but found the time to teach and make success ) in addition , some more children who were taught slokas, bhajans by one more member of the club also took stage --
This is really amazing virus to spread and this set the tone for the meeting--
Open house had many a joke that brought peals of laughter -- the centre stage belonged to Pushpavanam Kuppuswamy and his Anita as they talked about folklore and its humour -- the second guest was Radha Moham successful director of " Mozhi " and Abiyum Nanum " -- Some clipping of Mozhi was played as well.
I am a great promoting the club and here is feedback from a senior executive who I have been wooing for a long time to come and laugh -- Here is the feedback
I have been trying to make it for the last 6 months but happy that I managed it this time, though I was late.
It was a good experience.. People walking to the stage and sharing their jokes, all very decent but great. The compeer ( I didn’t pickup his name - not Shekar) was very spontaneous and attracted the audience during those mini-breaks when people took time to walk to the stage. He was able to carry from the previous jokes and kept the momentum. One need to be physically present to enjoy this experience and this is a good 2 hours spent away from TV and other entertainment.
The organizers ensured that discipline & respect is maintained throughout this sharing. 'Vendakkai' and 'Kalyanamalai' jokes were the best.
Pushpavanam lit the stage and took into the next level, although I could not extend my attendance due to my daughter's venture out on the open ground. My wife was very patient for almost an hour managing her.
