Valentino Rossi won his ninth title -- Rossi drove in third at the wet Malaysian GP and that was enough to get him the world title ahead of his team mate and closest challenger Jorge Lorenzo --One race still remains to be completed but Rossi is home --
Rossi celebrated the victory on the race track with a rooster and a oversized egg and had this to comment on the celebrations -- " in Italy , a old chicken is no good to lay eggs , they are good for soup .. I am like the old chicken but have laid a egg " -- this was a obvious reference to his age -- Rossi is 30 and his main challengers -- Casey Stoner of Ducati and Dani Pedrosa of Repsol Honda both are 24 and his teammate Lorenzo is just 22 -- Rossi is the MotoGP’s golden goose, but the young guns are suggesting there will be an afterlife.
There are some amazing things about this maverick world champion --Rossi has never missed a GP since his 125cc debut in 1996. He has started 226 successive races in all classes, 166 of which have been in the premier class. Both of these are records. this goes to show how fit he is --Nobody can ride quite like Rossi and nobody marries sporting brilliance with such quirky flamboyance. Fit and agile , he has worked hard to get these nine titles -- Stoner displaced him 2007 but Rossi came back strongly to win in 2008 and 2009 -- this year Stoner missed three races due to injury and this may have had a impact on the overall standing since post his recovery from injury Stoner has been in winning form and won two races out of three - All said and done Rossi's fitness has stood apart and that may have been the consistent difference between him and the rest.
The Second camp at the Medical Centre and more people walking in .. A stepping stone to success !
We had the last free camp on July 26th and we followed with a another free camp on October 25th at the Rotary Saradhambal Neelamegam CS Narasimhan Medical Centre ( Whew ! ) - We had more to offer this time to people who came in for the check up-- We had one of our Rotarian doctor who is the Chief Cardiologist at the Chettinad Hospital come in with his team and they brought in a portable Echo cardiogram machine with them -- This helped to add a new dimension -- We had lab facilities , Ultrasound , ECG and X-ray available for the free camp and the availability of the Echo added to the existing list of services available -
It was gratifying to see more than 100 people turn up and this was possible largely due to the efforts of the volunteers who had distributed flyers around the area and created awareness among locals in the area -- the other big thing is that the Medical centre is now no more a quarterly free camp centre but will be functioning on a ongoing daily basis offering diagnostic facilities at a very affordable price- Contact number is 24791532 -- Please make use of this number and request people who need Diagnostics support to contact and avail of the low cost service-
Mrs Pramila Narasimhan who is the prime donor of the equipments at the medical centre was on a visit to India ( she resides in the US ) and she also spent time with us , giving us new thoughts and also new ideas on growing the centre with funding availabilities which is in line with our thinking -- More work to do in spreading the word about the centre --
Lot of people do need health check ups but they shy away due to costs and also not wanting to know what is good with their health ( read the other way ) -- Some people just live with their problems due to non availability of treatment at right cost -- This was evidentwhat Shobana ( Ford Warranty team and RCC Secretary ) and myself noticed in front the Medical center on the Poonamalee Highway .We were flagging vehicles off the road ( Autos / three wheeler carts etc., ) and explaining about the centre and the free camp -- We had instant success in many cases -- They just parked the vehicle and went to do the check up -- Also few people took the flyers went to their home and brought the family in -- It is clear that the centre is in the right location -- and also people need help -- We need to make known the presence of the Centre and its facilities more -- Plans are on to proceed on that front --
