The Trip , The Roads and Infrastructure and People waiting ...

I had the chance to travel on the NH45 ( Chennai - Trichy stretch ) two timesin the last week - One was a day trip and the other was a night trip-,Both trips was great in terms of the time it took , the excellent condition of the road , clear sign boards ,reflectors etc., --

A travel to Trichy that would take minimum of six to seven with great rash risky driving skills, can now be done comfortably in four and half with ease of driving -- Work is still on to make things better and we need to appreciate good things that do happen with the Government agencies--

The good things to the trip, was it gave the ability to plan our trip timing so well - Not long ago , we could not plan the trip as you will get stuck with bad road condition , a railway level crossing etc., But today this is not to worry -- With enough bye pass and over bridges these hurdles have been overcome --
The only irritant is the number of toll booths that have come up -- But this is small irritant if the condition of the road and the safety part are as good as it is today-
I missed driving on the road as both occasions due to number of people with us , we had to arrange. hire transport from outside -- I am itching to drive down and have to find a quick excuse to do so on this stretch

A side story :On the first trip something different nearly crash-landed our plan- We were stuck in a town called Bhuvanagiri near Chidambaram for nearly 40 minutes -- Reason : The Honourable Chief Minister's convoy was passing through and all vehicle movement were stopped - having nothing to do , we joined the crowd to watch -- the lead car came some twenty minutes ahead of the actual car carrying the CM-- the crowd thought that it was CM"s car and there was slogans and cheering -- When they realised the folly, they quietened down dramatically -- Again the activity started as few lead cars and police vans came past -- then the car carrying the CM did come through -- The car slowed down as it reached a dense crowd of people waiting -- the car passed each point may be in less than a second -- With the Z security guards hanging on the footboard and a rope preventing people crossing the road , you just get a glimpse of the CM , Deputy CM and his entourage -- but darshan was enough to so many who gathered there to have a glimpse - I asked one of them , how long he was waiting -- he was at the spot from 10:30 AM -- it was 15:20 when the convoy passed -- I could not imagine him waiting that long to a get a one second view of his leader -- Amazing loyalty and patience !!
there was brisk business for the roadside shops that entire day -- There are positive effects too of these kind of events !!
Formula one

Sebastian Vettel drove a great race last Sunday to win the Japanese GP and set up a intriguing finish to the 2009 season -- With leader Jenson Button at 85 points and Vettel at 69 and Jenson's teammate Barrichelo at 71 and with two races and twenty points for the winner available from races at Brazilian and Abu Dhabi GP to be completed , it is going to be a run to the winning post. The person who is the most favoured to win the world title is Jenson -- He has to just pick up some points in the last two races and that will be good enough-- He need not win the race --

Vettel needs to win both the last two races and hope that Jenson crashes out in both -- Both are unlikely events but exciting things to happen - Barrichelo has a outside chance but Jenson is the most favourite to win the world title -
Ferrari finally did some expected driver enhancements not for this season but for 2010 -- They have roped in Alonso and let the underperforming Raikonen go -- It will be interesting to see how Alonso fits in to Ferrari with Massa -- there is scepticism on this in view of the issues that Alonso had when he was with McLaren as to who the number one driver is for the team ( there was quite a spat between Alonso and Hamilton that eventually lead to Alonso going out of the Mclaren team )
