Formula one

Jenson Button of Brawn GP was crowned the Champion for the 2009 season with one race at Abu Dhabi to be completed -- As written in my blog of two weeks ago , Jenson had the best chance and was in the best position to win -- Saturday's wet qualification did help him although he was at a lowly 14th-- His strong challenger Vettel was at 15th and his compatriot Barrichello was on Pole !! -- It must have been comforting to Jenson that his co teammate was on pole position and not Vettel of Red Bull -- Else this would have put him under pressure and he may have made mistakes- But to Jenson's credit he drove strongly and with no mistakes and crashes finished fifth that gave him enough points to gain the title --
During the course of the race Barrichello faded away, lost his pole position and finished after Jenson himself - Mark Webber won the race but who cares ? It was Jenson winning the world title that took the limelight. The fight for the second place will be on at the concluding Abu Dhabi GP between Barrichelo and Vettel -

Mention must be made of the fact that Brawn GP have scripted a remarkable victory for its Driver and also the team championships - Before the season started one was not sure if the team would compete in 2009 - Honda had withdrawn from the F1 series and both Jenson and Barrichello were unsure of their future - Ross Brawn the team principal stepped in , bought the team over from Honda and then turned it around-- this is the first time in F1 history that a team competition in the race for the first has been able to win both the Driver and Constructor championships -- Amazing work behind the scene to get the race car ready , well laid out race strategy , innovation in the car and great trust in its driver ability to deliver -- Ross Brawn did all things right that had lead to this success-

The Brazilian GP itself had its share of excitement as the first lap produced enough fireworks -- Trulli of Toyota ( penalised $10,000 for arguing on the track ), Sutil of Force India and Alonso of Renault all went out in spectacular fashion in one collision -- Trulli and Sutil got out and argued as to who was at fault -- it did not matter as they all went out of the race --
As the safety car was called in, during this incident, Raikkonen of Ferrari pitted and watched the McLaren car of Kovailenen ( penalised $50,000 for this incident )leave with the fuel rig in front of him at the pit garage with fuel was spilling over the path of his Ferrari- the rig had gone with the McLaren car and the heat of the brake and tyres of the Ferrari created flames around Raikkonen -- Did he take evasive action -- No -- Just held on as the flames died around him and his car , the car in front was cleared and he went on as if nothing happened -- Watch the video of this

Cricket

I was tempted to switch off the TV but should pride myself for not doing so -- In the 20-20 Championship league match between New South Wales Blues and Trinidad & Tobago ( T & T) , the match was going the New South Wales team all the way -- With 51 runs to get in four overs , the West Indian team was all but out -- But one man decided that T & T will win the match and win handsomely --
In a display of savage but clean hitting Kieron Pollard knocked off 43 runs of 9 balls of Moises Henrique and suddenly T & T were the victors -- eight more runs came of the intervening Brett Lee over and so 51 came off 15 balls -handsome victory indeed because they had 9 balls to spare when victory was achieved -- Try to watch any video that you may get on this 15 ball hitting by Kieron Pollard-- It was unbelievable stuff -
