Cricket ? What is going on ?

The Match or the Spot Fixing.

The Pakis seem to have a knack of self deteriorating themselves. The team , the captain , the Selection panel and all administration related agencies are always in the news. Not for the right reasons at all. During the past two or three years or more , Pakistan has done all or some of the following

Chopped and changed its captains
Banned their captain from playing
Brought back the banned captain as a player ( too many of them at the same time )
Captains have give up their mantle during a tour without any valid explanation
Change the team ..
Few of their players have always had controversy but have managed to play for their team.
Have been able to produce new crop of talented youngsters amongst all thismayhem

The Pakistan team had been a roller coaster for the past few months and with their recent performance against Australia and England ,I thought for a moment they were getting their cricketing act together. First , they came back to tie the test series with Australia and then came back strongly against England till they lost the plot to go down 1-3 in the tests as all hell broke loose. Salman Butt , their latest captain with Md Amir ( what a bowling sensation he was with the ball ) and the yet again one more Controversial Pakistani Md. Asif were found guilty of match fixing or spot fixing as the case may be .Every day there is sensation news as each TV channel vibe with each other to give juicy updates.

I was wondering "Now why on earth would a young upcoming cricketer like Amir who is nominated for a ICC emerging cricket award and who is in his teens ( he is just 18 ) , get in to this . I cannot believe that Amir did what he did . Was he even capable of understanding what he was doing and given his international experience which is limited. He is young fellow …. What on earth would he give away by bowling a few no balls ? He has reached 50 wickets in Test matches in no time .I am sure all investigations will reveal nothing … It is going to be full time pass for all the media and that includes bloggers like me.

Sunil Gavaskar commented on his reaction to the claims-- he talked about grooming and training -- Just not the cricket piece of it -- Gavaskar talked about having training for the Cricketers on behavioural aspects and letting them know how the sport is played and the ethical way to play the sport .. Point well made.

I watched the Sunday T20 match between England and Pakistan to see if I can figure out Match or spot fixing as the case may be . As Pakis batted , I could not find out anything sinister . They just could not handle the England bowling and in particular spin bowling ( well , you say that sub continent batsmen play spin well ? No they do not ). Pakistan ended up with a small total but they bounced back with some fast bowling by Shoiab Akhtar ( who else -- I am surprised that he is yet to be spot fixed to bowl "slowly " ) -- But but … Shoiab dropped a "dolly" from Eoin Morgan and that changed the match in to England's favour -- Was Shoaib spot fixed to drop the catch ? Well , you can say yes going by all that is happening and no if you are rational. How on earth can someone fix Eoin Morgan to send a dolly out and also only to Akhtar -- that is mightily difficult to fix is my thought . But of course , this catch affected the match result . I somehow believe that it is difficult to fix the result of a match but other things for sure are possible -- Bowl a " no ball " , drop catches , --

I also watched or followed the now famous Sydney test earlier in the year between Australia and Pakistan , that Pakistan somehow lost . They could have never lost that test by any stretch of imagination. They were on top on day 4 . They dropped catches on day five and set up fielding positions that made no cricketing sense. Match fixed .. May be .. Now what will the Aussies think if it is concluded that they were allowed to win rather than they played well to win that test.

What am I saying … Confusion all over the place … The guys do not tell correctly.. Too many things and too many events .. We need to make this simple as we did on CWG ( Commonwealth Games ) - Look at our CWG preparation- All of us agree that there is corruption but the games will go on -- No suspense, no videos, no sensational disclosures --We are transparent and we agree that people will make the money -- So what ?
Did I confuse everyone -- Is match fixing possible or not -- I do not know but my thought it is difficult.
Cheers

As we move towards gambling as a legal profession (Times of India Sept 5 edition), cricket and movies may sound similar - a solid opening and a flop finish or vice versa
