Quotable Quotes

It could be used for weight lifting -- Fidel Castro President of Cuba on Former US Federal Reserve Chairman Alan Greenspan's book " Age of Turbulence "

Take it as a challenge, break my records and take my place -- Sunita Williams Astronaut to the students of the Gujarat University

It is certainly flattering if people find me attractive, but it is not something that I spend a lot of time thinking about-- Daniela Hanutchova Tennis Player who was chosen twice by a magazine as the sexiest tennis player

Twenty Twenty Cup Triumph by India

I can write all this for India has won.. In a nail biting final , India won by five runs with Misbah failing for the second time in the competition to gain a win for Pakistan. Some factors that contributed to the Indian win.
1. They were destined to win---
2. Fearless -- they had nothing to fear
3. No reputation to defend
4. Youth
5. Absence of Sachin , Rahul and Sourav-- If these three had been in the team , you had three places gone and you cannot drop them even if they fail-- you had to wait for them to get to form which could have been the next Twenty Twenty world cup--
6. Flexibility-- Players were chosen for what they can do-- For the final in place of injured Sehwag one would have preferred to play Dinesh Karthik who was established but in poor form -- Instead they went and capped Yusuf Pathan-- that was a bold move--
7.Everyone contributed
8. Dhoni's leadership
Wish we can have the same concept carry through in our regular cricket matches--

Chess
V. Anand continues to do things that attract world attention but with his usual quietness-- For the second time , he won the World title -- He did not loose a single match in the entire tournament -- It looks to be seen in view of all the bonanza given to the Cricketers , what this country does to this world achiever

Orissa

Had a very good vacation to Orissa ( Puri and Bhubaneswar )-- Although the rains were threatening all the time , we were able to see places that we wanted to see over the week-- Puri is a great place--Quiet place on the beach it gives us jitters on the days we stayed there close to the beach at a resort The sea erosion had a portion of the Marine Drive ( road along the beach ) ripped off making the trip to the resort treacherous- We had to go on the sands and among waves to get to the resort each time in and out-- Few resorts will go out of business due to this factor-- Places that we visited were the Jaganth temple at Puri ( 12th Century temple ), The Konark Sun temple (13th Century -- thisis damaged but preserved by ASI and has lot of things on history and culture to offer - hire a guide ) , The Chilika lagoon in which Dolphins are bred and you can hire a boat and wait for them to come out-- We had a bad experience ( not me ) -- We reached a spot in the middle of the lake where the Dolphins were sighted -- the engine was turned off to ensure that the Dolphins are not disturbed -- and after watching them when the boatmen tried to start the engine , it would not and he had to paddle us for over 50 minutes-- My mom , wife and Bil were scared out with low clouds threatening to rain. We reached the shores safely-- At Bhubaneswar we went to the Udaygiri caves where Asoka hid himself in the war ( again use Guide ) - it was good to relate to history which we read in our school days -- The ASI preserves these sites and thus we can see the history being protected-- Other places to go were the Dauli ( Buddhist relic ) the Zoo ( for white tigers ) , Pipli ( a handicraft village) -- You need a clear week to do this .. One thing that was surprising the roads were good throughout inspite of the rains and the monsoon season was just about getting over

Formula 1

Lewis Hamilton took a major step towards achieving a rookie world title by winning a rainy Japanese GP.. His closest challenger Alonso also of Mclaren crashed out this giving Hamiton a 12 point lead with two races to go. Raikone of Ferrari still has a mathematical chance-- One should have also seen the race to the finish between Robert Kubica of BMW and Massa of Ferrari for the fifth place-- It was a great wheel to wheel racing on the home stretch with Massa going off the track and then bouncing back to beat Kubica for the place
