Quotable Quotes
Pakistan should act and not talk . They should walk the talk -- Anand Sharma -- Minister of State for External Affairs
I am a fan of Aiswaraya Rai . I think she is very beautiful ! -- Nicole Kidman Hollywood Actor
I do not think that there is enough beer in all of Australia to satisfy us tonight -- Paul Harris South African Cricketer after his team's historic test series win against Australia
The homeland of Jesus cannot continue to be witness to so much bloodshed which repeats itself endlessly-- Pope Benefict XVI on Israeli bombing of Gaza

Austerity
By now, almost everybody would have thought about the impact of the collapses in various disciplines and how it would affect the daily life. Also the fact that everything around us is gloomy , cuts on all fronts, rising costs , known ones not getting paid ( their employers in trouble ) --
Shopping for groceries is no longer a pleasure-- Air-conditioning at these shops are cut -- Most of the items are not available or there is no choices -- Few items are being hoarded and so on-- Looks like our Kirana guys will survive all this and come out stronger -- Not long ago retail industry was a industry that held prospects and everyone wanted to join in that and most of the business magazines covered them as a huge growth area -- No more-- With a need to conserved cash what could one do in a situation like this? Does it mean that one should immediately cut all expenses and live like a Spartan?Well, here are some tips that could help ease the transition.

Eat less and eat at home more . In fact, if you eat up to 70% or 80% of your usual bursting at the seams fullness, you could not only save money but live longer too.
Drive less. You could start using public transport more if you are not doing so already. Even better if you don't own a car!. Problems of owning / leasing a car are becoming plenty with more traffic on the road , Fuel shortages ( truckers strike ) and visit of VVIP to the city adding to the traffic Chaos -- Trains are the best and if you reside closer to a railway line nothing like it to take the train to work or anywhere --
Watch less television (perhaps except for the news). This will be a great challenge as most of our pastime is spent on this Embrace cheaper hobbies. Spend more time outdoors. The less time you spend surrounded by material temptations in an artificial air-conditioned environment, the less likely you are to reach inside your purse. Plus some fresh air and exercise is good for you.
Visit museums and heritage sites. Many of them cost less than a cinema ticket (some are free!) and they often provide much food for the soul and inspiration for the mind. Children may not like it but I think this is a good option !!
Finally and most importantly, simplify your life. This is probably the most important message that I have. Do not get trapped by the temptations of hedonistic pleasures. Doing nothing can sometimes be more therapeutic than stressing oneself up just to keep up with the others.
